Douglas Bay Pirates move to top of Cherry Orchard League

Defending Champions Douglas Bay Pirates moved to the top of the Cherry Orchard League after a 7-0 win over Ballaugh last Sunday at the NSC.

Archie & Wyn Collister won the opening game of pairs for the Pirates with a 13-7 win over Percy Faragher & John Garret before Stephen Gale beat Patrick Grant 20-2 in the singles. The triples saw the Pirates win 13-2 to complete the victory.

Erin Elite dropped from top to third place after losing 5-2 to Ronaldsway Blockbusters who stay in second. Seamus Whelan & Collin Holland beat Sheila & Bernie Durcan 9-7 in the pairs but Brendan McLaughlin levelled the game for Erin Elite with a superb 10-9 victory over Chris Holland. With it all to play in the final game of triples, it was the Blockbusters who came through as 13-5 victors.

Ballaugh B won their first game of the season with a 5-2 win over Castletown Oddballs. Pat Mason & Tony Quine recorded a victory in the pairs for the Ballaugh side, beating James Teare & Clare Hussain 12-6. Zawar Hussain won the singles for Castletown with a 9-7 win over Richard Faragher but Ballaugh B responded with an 8-5 victory in the triples to take the points.

Next week sees Douglas Bay Pirates meet Erin Elite while Ronaldsway Blockbusters face Casteltown Oddballs and Ballaugh & Ballaugh B play each other.
