Pirates extend lead in the Cherry Orchard League

Douglas Bay Pirates remain on course to defend their title in the Cherry Orchard League after a 7-0 win over third place Erin Elite.

Michael Collister & Stephen Gale took the opening pairs with an 11-9 victory over Sheila & Bernie Durcan before Gale own his singles 17-5 again Brendan McLaughlin, and despite being short a player in the triples, the Pirates came through 11-6 to claim a 7-0 victory.

Ronaldsway Blockbusters remain in second place but lost pace on the Pirates after they won 5-2 against Castletown Oddballs. Seamus Whelan & Collin Holland got the Blockbusters off to a perfect start with a 15-1 victory over James Teare & Zawar Hussain and Chris Holland added the singles with a 12-9 win against Dave McCabe but the Oddballs hit back in the triples with McCabe playing an inspired final bowl to win the game 8-6.

Ballaugh B won the local derby against Ballaugh 7-0. Pat Mason & Tony Quine took the pairs 16-4 against John Garret & Percy Faragher before Richard Faragher beat Patrick Grant 11-8 in the singles. The triples was a close encounter, finishing 6-5 to Ballaugh B.
