Ronaldsway Rockets sealed their 4th title in as many years in the Haldane Fisher League after beating Colby Cosmos 15-2 at the NSC last Sunday.
The Rockets started the day needing only 5 points to guaranteeĀ the title and started emphatically after taking the first game 5-4 in the fours. Ann Gale & Chris Holland then took the pairs 13-5 and Dave McTaggart & Collin Holland won their game 9-4 to show that it was never in doubt. David Cottier claimed Cosmos’ only points with a 10-7 win in the singles with Ann Gale (16-3), Chris Holland (9-8) and Collin Holland (11-8) completed the victory parade for the Rockets.
The match between Douglas Sharks & Port Erin was effectively a play-off for second place with the Sharks starting the day a point ahead. The opening games of pairs were shared with Seamus Whelan & Michael Collister winning 11-6 for the Sharks and Wyn & Archie Collister hitting back with a 9-6 win for Port Erin. The fours game swung the match in favour of the Sharks with a 13-4 victory and Michael Collister won his singles 17-5 and Seamus Whelan won his game 13-8 it meant the Sharks would finish in second. Bernie Durcan got 2 more points for Port Erin with an 18-1 win before Stephen Gale wrapped the match up for the Sharks with a 15-4 victory.
