Arbory Pirates closed to within three points of leaders Castletown Southsiders after beating Ronaldsway Blockbusters 5-2 last Sunday in the Cherry Orchard League.
The Pirates, who are unbeaten since the opening day of the season, lost the opening game of pairs with Wyn Collister & Chris Holland taking the points for the Blockbusters, but Stephen Gale hit back for the Pirates with a 15-3 singles win before teaming up with David Hetherington & Robin Teare to take the triples 9-7 to complete the win.
Castletown Southsiders stayed top despite going down 4-3 to defending champions Ramsey Rebels. Jill Quayle & Moira Anderson won their pairs 11-8 for the Rebels before Jayne Kinley levelled the match with a 13-3 win in her singles game. The Rebels won the triples however, coming from behind to win 9-8 to stay in third place.
Laxey Minors move up the fourth in the table after a close 4-3 win over Colby Cosmos. David Cottier & Peter Coward won the pairs for the Minors 12-5 but Ann Hollingworth had a terrific 18-2 win in her singles to level the match. The Minors managed to win the triples 10-2 but it wasn't quite enough to claim the bonus point which went to the Cosmos.
The final game of the day saw Castletown Super Threes beat Ballaugh 7-0. Matt Quayle & Brian Redman won the pairs 9-7 and Sylvia Maddrell added the singles with a fine 14-6 victory before completing the victory with an 8-5 win in the triples.
