Castletown Southsiders stayed top of the Cherry Orchard League with a 5-2 win over the Laxey Minors at the NSC last Sunday.
The day started badly for the Southsiders, with David Cottier & Peter Coward coming back from 8-0 down to win the pairs 13-11 for the Minors. Sam Peel soon levelled the game with a fine 17-9 win in his singles before teaming up with Jayne Holland & Emma Smith to take the triples 7-6 to complete the victory.
Arbory Pirates stayed in touch with a 5-2 victory over Ballaugh. David Hetherington & Robin Teare won their pairs for the Pirates 14-5 but Richard Faragher hit back for Ballaugh in the singles, recording a 9-6 win. The triples was much more one-sided with the Pirates coming away 13-4 winners.
Ronaldsway Blockbusters jumped up to third place, also winning 5-2 against Ramsey Rebels. The opening game of pairs and the following singles were both tied at 10-10 & 8-8 so the match was decided on the triples which Chris Holland, Wyn Collister & Collin Holland won 8-5 to take the points for the Blockbusters.
Colby Cosmos also moved up the league, recording a 5-2 win over Castletown Super Threes. Ann Hollingworth & Pauline Kelly won the pairs 15-9 for the Cosmos but Sylvia Maddrell levelled the game by winning her singles 8-4. The triples was closely fought but Cosmos came out on top, winning 11-9.
