Brendan McLaughlin beat Patrick Grant 25-12 in the Handicap Singles last Sunday at the NSC to claim his first singles title.

McLaughlin, who is in his first season of short mat bowls started with a 10 shot advantage in the final over 14 year-old Patrick Grant which proved to be plenty to take the title.

After sharing the opening ends Grant did threaten a comeback with a 4 on the fourth end but McLaughlin hit back immediately with a 3 to pull away once more. With Grant chasing shots McLaughlin played well to keep him at arms length and claim the title.
