Freeway Express Championship – Final Round

Ronaldsway Rockets secured the Freeway Express Championship with a convincing 12-5 win over nearest rivals Rushen last Sunday, with Colby Cosmos finishing as runners up after they beat Port Erin Blockbusters 13-4.

The Rockets, who were taking a 3 point lead into the final game got off to the perfect start by winning both opening games of pairs. Ann Gale & Chris Holland won 8-5 and Dave McTaggart & Collin Holland played magnificently to win 18-2. The Rockets continued to dominate in the singles with Chris Holland (9-7), Dave McTaggart (12-4) and Collin Holland 9-5 all securing wins. Ann Gale & Peter Coward drew their singles 8-8. Rushen managed to salvage some points from the game, coming back to win the fours 7-5.

Colby Cosmos ran riot against a weakened Port Erin Blockbusters side. David Cottier & Pauline Kelly won their pairs game 7-5 and Cottier also won his singles 8-7. The only points for Blockbusters came from Josh Ffrench, winning his singles 14-6 and Wyn Collister taking her singles 12-11. The fours game was a convincing 12-3 win for Cosmos.
