Douglas Quads recorded an excellent 17-0 win over Ballaugh last Sunday at the NSC in the Haldane Fisher Fours League to extend their lead at the top of the table to 12 points with just one game remaining.

David Cottier & Harry Minor got the Douglas side started with a 14-6 victory in the pairs before James Teare & Eddie Brew added to that with an 8-5 win. The singles saw David Cottier win 17-6 with James Teare getting a 14-5 win in his singles match. Eddie Brew then added his singles with a 8-4 victory and Harry Minor won 8-6. The fours became very close towards the end of a marathon match with Harry Minor drawing his final shot when 3 down to win the game 8-5 to take maximum points and extend their lead at the top.

Douglas Sharks were hoping for a big win over Erin Elite however Bernie Durcan dented their hopes with two excellent wins in the singles, first beating Michael Collister 10-6 then going on to record a 15-3 win over Stephen Gale. Richard Faragher & Seamus Whelan managed to keep the Sharks on level terms with a 16-2 victory for Faragher and a 13-5 win for Whelan. The pairs were also shared with Sheila & Bernie Durcan coming from behind for Erin Elite to win 8-5 while Michael Collister & Stephen Gale won 15-6 in their pairs match. The Sharks then took advantage of a depleted Erin Elite side to take the fours 18-2 to keep their slim chances of the title alive.

Ronaldsway Rockets also recorded an 11-6 win over Colby, despite Colby being seriously weakened Bernie Kaighin & Jayne Smith gave an impressive account of themselves. Ann Gale & Chris Holland won the opening pairs for the Rockets but Jayne Smith caused an upset by beating Clare Hussain & Collin Holland 11-9. Bernie Kaighin then recorded a singles win with a 12-6 win while Jayne Smith won 20-4. Chris Holland fought back for the Rockets with a 11-7 win before Collin Holland leveled the match with a 12-11 victory. The Rockets claimed the fours match with Colby unable to field a team with just two players which left the Rockets 11-6 victors.
