Cherry Orchard League – Game Four

Ronaldsway Blockbusters increased their lead at the top of the Cherry Orchard League last Sunday with a 7-0 win over Colby Cosmos.

Chris Holland & Wyn Collister started off with a 13-6 victory in the doubles, before Collin Holland doubled the lead with a 13-5 singles win. In the final triples game, the Blockbusters trio of Chris & Collin Holland, along with Archie Collister saw them complete the overall victory with an 11-4 win to leave them 9 points clear at the top of the table.

Douglas Bay Pirates fell a further two points behind after a 5-2 win over Ballaugh. Josh Ffrench & Stephen Gale won the opening game of pairs 16-4 and Gale then increased the lead with a 9-6 victory in the singles. However Ballugh regrouped and Ann Gale, Dave McTaggert & Richard Faragher took a 10-4 win in the triples.

The final game of the day saw Laxey Minors beat Ramsey Rebels 4-3 in a tightly fought encounter. David Cottier & Peter Coward took the opening game 11-10 for the Minors before Seamus Whelan increased the lead by the same scoreline in the singles. Jill Quayle, Moira Anderson & John Jauncey took the triples for the Rebels with an 8-4 victory to claim the bonus point for most chalks.
