Ronaldsway Fours

Last weekend saw the Ronadlsway Fours take place as the action the MSMBA got back underway after the Christmas break with defending champions Collin Holland, Seamus Whelan, Clare Hussein & Chris Holland retaining their title in an enthralling climax.

The first game of the day saw Holland’s quartet succumb to a 8-7 defeat to Brian Redman, Peter Blower, Matt Quayle & Sylvia Maddrell, with Redman’s team taking the game on the very last end.

The second game of the three team round robin saw Stephan Gale, Jayne Smith, Josh Ffrench & Emma Smith take an emphatic 16-9 victory after initially being 5-0 down to Redman’s team.

The final game between Gale’s team and the defending champions saw Holland’s team take an early lead, Gale fought back to to trail by 2 with three ends remaining, however some superb bowls by Holland’s team saw them stretch to a 9-4 lead with one end to play, and with it coming down to chalks, whoever won the final end would take the title. With Gale’s team on for one shot, Collin Holland’s final bowl saw him take the jack into the the ditch to leave them on for one shot with Stephen Gale to bowl the final wood of the tournament. Unfortunately for his team he was unable to alter the head, and Holland’s team ended up deserved Champions once again.
