Mason, Hussain & Gale take Ballaugh Triples title

Pat Mason, Clare Hussain & Stephen Gale won the third round-robin tournament held at Ballaugh Bowling Club after topping the table with 3 wins out of 4.

The eventual winners had a tough start in their opening match, losing 10-4 to John Garrett, Ali Millard & Richard Faragher. On the other mat, Dave Thompson, Seamus Whelan & Tony Quine came through 8-5 against Carol Holt, Collin Holland & Michael Collister.

The second round of matches saw Mary Bailey, Patrick Grant & Chris Holland play their first game, but they lost 6-3 to Thompson, Whelan & Quine. Holt, Holland & Collister got their first win thanks to an 11-2 victory over Garret, Millard & Faragher.

Mason, Hussain & Gale got things going on in the third round of matches, beating Bailey, Grant & Holland 13-6 while Garret, Millard & Faragher recorded their second victory of the day with a 6-3 win over Thompson, Whelan & Quine.

The penultimate round saw another convincing win for Mason, Hussain & Gale with a 17-3 victory over Holt, Holland & Collister while Bailey, Grant & Holland claimed their first win after a 13-3 victory over Garret, Millard & Faragher.

The final matches saw Mason, Hussain & Gale go head-to-head with Thompson, Whelan & Garret in a winner-takes-all game, and it was Gale’s side that took the win with a 12-4 victory. Holt, Holland & Collister came through 7-6 winners in the other game against Bailey, Grant & Holland.

Next week sees the final games of the Peter Coward Pairs League at the NSC with Michael Collister & Stephen Gale looking to wrap up the title with their 5 point advantage from Clare Hussain & Chris Holland.
