Chris Holland & Stephen Gale won the MSMBA 2 Bowl Pairs after beating Eddie Brew & Harry Minor 9-6 in a hard fought days bowling at the NSC.

Holland & Gale were initially drawn into the play-off match, meaning they would face the best losers from the first round which ended up being Richard Faragher & Tony Quine from Ballaugh after they lost 9-8 to Tom Kelly & Michael Collister. Elsewhere in the opening round Eddie Brew & Harry Minor beat Bernie Kaghin & Clare Hussein 11-9 and Seamus Whelan & Collin Holland beat Stephen Bradley & James Teare 15-4.
In the play-off Holland & Gale started slowly with Faragher & Quine going 5-0 up early on but they held on to stay in touch, eventually taking the lead on the penultimate end and finishing as 16-12 winners.
The semi-finals saw another tough game for Holland & Gale as they come up against Whelan & Collin Holland. After 8 ends it was 4-3 but Wheland & Holland came back to lead 7-4 with 3 ends remaining. A three on the penultimate end saw Holland & Gale level the match and a two on the last saw them book their place in the final.
The other semi-final saw Eddie Brew & Harry Minor beat Tom Kelly & Michael Collister 15-6. After a tight opening 5 ends the scores were level at 4-4 but a 3 & two singles on the next 3 ends saw Brew & Minor stretch there lead and with Kelly & Collister chasing the game they ran out comfortable winners.
The final started with Holland & Gale edging ahead, scored 5 consecutive singles and a 2 on the sixth end saw them lead 7-0 at the half-way stage, but Brew & Minor hit back with a 3 and 2 more singles to trail by 2 shots with three ends remaining. After the next two ends were shared with a shot each Brew & Minor needed 2 to level the match but fortunately for Holland & Gale the took the last end to win 9-6 and claim the title.
Next week sees a return to the Cherry Orchard League with leaders Laxey Minors facing Ballaugh while Douglas Bay Pirates meet Erin Elite. Ronaldsway Blockbusters face Colby and Douglas Destroyers play Douglas Townies.
