Ronaldsway Rockets wrapped up the Freeway Express Championship in emphatic fashion with a devastating 16-1 win over Castletown Rockets.

Ann Gale & Chris Holland got the champions off to the perfect start with an 11-3 win in the pairs before Dave McTaggert & Collin Holland added to that with an 18-3 victory in their pairs. The solitary point for Castletown came in their opening singles game with Matt Quayle sharing the game with Ann Gale 8-8 before Dave McTaggert won his singles 105. Chris Holland & Collin Holland both won their singles games 14-6 and 12-6 respectively. By this stage Ronaldsway had done enough to ensure they finished the day as champions but added another win in the final game of fours with an impressive 7-1 victory.

The other game saw Colby Cosmos and Ramsey Rebels battle it out for third place in the table. The opening pairs game saw the points shared as David Cottier & Pauline Kelly drew with the Ramsey duo Moira Anderson & Eric Maddocks. Ramsey ensured they had a slim advantage after the second pairs game however with Jill Quayle & John Jauncey coming out 10-8 winners. Ramsey then increased their lead after Moira Anderson won her opening singles game 6-5 before Colby started to fight back. David Cottier won 12-5, then Rita Woodworth took her singles 9-5 and Ann Hollingworth pushed Colby into the lead with a very impressive 16-1 win. The final fours game went in favour of Ramsey after winning 9-5 but they couldn’t make up the massive chalks difference which meant they ran out 9-8 winners on the day but finished below Colby in the final standings with an inferior chalk difference.

2. Rushen – 37 (+31)
3. Colby Cosmos – 31 (+21)
4. Ramsey Rebels – 31 (-32)
5. Castletown Rockets – 23 (-96)
