Ronaldsway Rockets started the defense of their Haldane Fisher title with a 17-0 victory over Ballaugh.
Ann Gale & Chris Holland started off with a 10-8 victory over Pat Mason & Stephen Bradley with Dave McTaggart & Collin Holland adding to that with a 10-4 win against Moira Anderson & Jill Quayle. Heading in to the singles Ann Gale won 12-7 while Dave McTaggart came through 10-8. Chris Holland kept the run going with an 11-6 win before Collin Holland recorded the biggest win of the day of 27-1. The Rockets won the final game of fours 17-1 to complete the 100% record and top the league.
Douglas Sharks are second after they beat Colby 15-2. Seamus Whelan & Michael Collister were pushed all the way by Bernie Kaighin & Matt Quayle before coming through 13-11. Richard Faragher & Stephen Gale came from 5-1 down to win 11-8 over Ann Hollingworth & Sylvia Maddrell. Seamus Whelan won his singles match 14-7 before Sylvia Maddrell got Colby’s only win thanks to a 15-10 win against Richard Faragher. Michael Collister beat Ann Hollingworth 14-9 while Stephen Gale beat Matt Quayle 11-6. The fours could have gone either way with the Skarks taking the lead but a 5 put Colby back in control before the Sharks came back to take a 9-7 win.
In the final match Douglas Quads claimed an 11-6 win over Erin Elite. Harry Minor & James Teare beat Sheila Durcan & Steven Durcan 10-3 for the Douglas side before Eddie Brew & Jayne Smith increased their lead with a 9-8 win over Linsey Durcan & Bernie Durcan. Harry Minor then won his singles game 18-5 & Eddie Brew took his match 16-9. Bernie Durcan managed to get Erin Elite’s first win thanks to a 16-7 victory but Jayne Smith came out on top against Steven Durcan 15-4. Erin Elite regrouped however, and took a tight fours game 5-3 to reduce the deficit to lose by 5.
