Ffrench and Gale topped through their group after an 18-3 win over Archie & Wyn Collister before coming through a tough match 12-7 against Matt Quayle & Eddie Brew.
Whelan & Holland finish on top of their group after two convincing wins. First they were 17-8 winners against Peter Blower & Sylvia Maddrell and then a 19-4 victory against Richard Faragher & Chris Holland.
The final saw Ffrench & Gale take an early lead but Whelan & Holland soon had the game all-square. Ffrench & Gale scored a 3 on end five but Whelan & Holland hit back with a single and a 3of their own to lead 7-6 with five ends to play. Ffrench & Gale came back well though, taking 4 points over the next three ends. Some good covering bowls over the last two ends saw Ffrench & Gale hang on to take the final 10-9.
Next week is the return of the Haldane Fisher Fours League with Ronaldsway Rockets playing Colby Jacks and Rushen facing Colby Cosmos.
