Haldane Fisher Fours League – Week Two

The top two teams in the Haldane Fisher Fours League both won last Sunday at the NSC with Ronaldsway Rockets taking a 1 point lead into the final game of the season.

The Rockets overcame Colby Jacks 12-5 overall with Dave McTaggart & Collin Holland taking their pairs 10-6 and Ann Gale & Chris Holland drawing their game 10-10 with Matt Quayle & Eddie Brew. The singles were very one-sided, with the Rockets winning all four. McTaggart won 7-6, Ann Gale 20-1, Collin Holland 18-3 and Chris Holland 19-5. Colby Jacks did however manage to win the final fours game in an epic encounter which finished 7-5 to the Jacks.

Rushen managed to stay 1 point behind the leaders with a hard fought 11-6 victory over Colby Cosmos. Clare Hussain & Seamus Whelan won their pairs game for Rushen 17-7 before Richard Faragher & Stephen Gale drew 9-9 with David Cottier & Ann Hollingworth. Rushen edged further ahead in the singles with Seamus Whelan (9-8) and Stephen Gale (12-7) both winning. Clare Hussain drew 9-9 with Carol Kaye and Ann Hollingworth won 14-7 for the Cosmos. The final fours game was again tight throughout and finished 8-8 meaning Rushen finished 11-6 winners.

Next week is the final Cherry Orchard game before Christmas. Ronaldsway Blockbusters meet Laxey Minors, Douglas Bay Pirates face Ballaugh and Colby Cosmos take on Colby Jacks.
