Sharks close in on the Rockets in the Haldane Fisher League

The Douglas Sharks recorded a 15-2 victory against Colby Cosmos to move to just one point behind Ronaldsway Rockets in the Haldane Fisher League last Sunday at the NSC.

The Rockets were looking to extend their lead at the top and Ann Gale & Chris Holland got them off to a good start with a win of 14-4 in the pairs, however Harry Minor & Bernie Durkin hit back for Port Erin with a 13-6 victory in their pairs. The Rockets dominated the singles, winning all 4 games. Ann Gale and Dave McTaggart both won by a single shot before Chris Holland (11-7) and Collin Holland 14-9 won their games. Port Erin were not finished though as they hit back with a superb 11-5 win in the fours although it wasn’t enough as Ronaldsway Rockets ran out 11-6 winners.

Douglas Sharks made a fantastic start against Colby Cosmos with Eddie Brew & Seamus Whelan winning their pairs 11-4 and Richard Faragher & Stephen Gale taking their game 10-6. The Sharks kept up the pressure in the singles with Richard Faragher (8-6), Eddie Brew (12-4) and Stephen Gale (15-7) all  winning their singles. Sylvia Maddrell managed to get the Cosmos on the board with a 10-9 win in her singles. In the fours, the Sharks ran out 9-2 winners to claim a 15-2 overall victory.

Next week the Cherry Orchard League returns with leaders Ronaldsway Blockbusters facing second place Ballaugh. Laxey Minors meet Colby Comsos, Andreas play Peel Musketeers and Port Erin New Kids meet Douglas Bay Pirates.
