Douglas Quads took top spot from Douglas Sharks last Sunday in the Haldane Fisher League after a superb 16-1 victory over Colby.
Harry Minor & David Cottier got the Douglas side off to a good start with a 12-8 win in their pairs game. James Teare & Eddie Brew added to that with an 11-4 victory. The singles saw David Cottier beat Matt Quayle 12-9 while Bernie Kaighin picked up Colby’s solitary point with a 8-8 draw against James Teare. Eddie Brew beat Sylvia Maddrell 17-3 and Harry Minor won his singles game 8-7 over Ann Hollingworth. The fours game saw Douglas complete their win with an 11-5 victory to move to the top of the table.
Douglas Sharks drop to second place after a narrow 9-8 victory over Ronaldsway Rockets. Michael Collister & Stephen Gale won their pairs for the Sharks 10-6 before Richard Faragher & Seamus Whelan drew 7-7 with Wyn Collister & Collin Holland. The singles saw the Rockets take control with Ann Gale beating Richard Faragher 10-5, Collin Holland winning 19-2 over Michael Collister & Chris Holland beating Seamus Whelan 15-3. Stephen Gale won his game for the Sharks 15-7 over Wyn Collister. The fours saw the Sharks win the match with a 9-3 victory, however it wasn’t enough to claim the bonus point from the Rockets.
Erin Elite secured a good win over Ballaugh despite only having two players. Bernie Durcan won his pairs 12-8 and Sheila Durcan won hers 13-6. Bernie then won both his singles 13-6 over Pat Mason & 11-3 against Stephen Bradley. Sheila had to settle for a 10-10 draw with Maureen Trustham while Stephen Bradley won his other match 12-5. The fours game was claimed by Ballaugh as Erin Elite were unable to field a side, meaning that it ended up 9-7 to the Port Erin side.
