The first week of the new Pairs League got under way last week at the NSC with Michael Collister & Stephen Gale setting the early pace after winning their first three game of the campaign.

The first round of games, Gale & Collister were fortunate to get the victory after coming from behind against Ann Gale & Dave McTaggart to win 11-10 on the final end. Elsewhere there were convincing wins for Coll Holland & Seamus Whelan (13-4), Jill Quayle & Moira Anderson (15-6) and Chris Holland & John Jauncey (19-4).

The next round of games saw Gale & Collister beat Holland & Jauncey 16-4. Ann Gale & Dave McTaggart recovered well to win 10-8 against Ann Hollingworth & Rita Woodworth. Archie Collister & Wyn Collister caused a bit of an upset defeating Collin Holland & Seamus Whelan 9-6. Matt Quayle & Sylvia Maddrell, playing their first game, got off to winning start, beating Jill Quayle & Moira Anderson 11-8.

The final round of the games saw Gale & Collister maintain their 100% with a 10-5 victory over Holland & Whelan. Chris Holland & John Jauncey made sure they finished the day in second place with 16-9 win against Ann Hollingworth & Rita Woodworth. Ann Gale & Dave McTaggart are third after another tight game saw them come out 11-10 victors over Matt Quayle & Sylvia Maddrell. Peter Coward & David Cottier completed the day with a convincing 15-4 win against Archie Collister & Wyn Collister.
