Seamus Whelan & Collin Holland took the 4 Bowl Pairs title last Sunday at the NSC to add to their 2 Bowl Pairs title they won earlier in the year after an 8-5 win over Ann Gale & Chris Holland in the final

Whelan & Holland had to overcome the defending champions David Cottier & Peter Coward in the opening round and did so impressively with a 13-4 victory. Ann Gale & Chris Holland had a convincing 14-0 win over Josh Ffrench & Stephen Gale. Elsewhere there were good wins for Jayne Smith & Michael Collister (17-4) over Ann Hollingworth & Rita Woodworth and Matt Quayle & Sylvia Maddrell (14-7) against Richard Faragher & Dave McTaggart.

The semi-finals saw Whelan & Holland fight through a tough game against Quayle & Maddrell but scoring a 5 on the penultimate end saw them through to the final with a 10-8 win. The other semi-final saw Gale & Holland storm through with a 12-6 win over Smith & Collister.

The final saw Gale & Holland take charge early on, leading 4-2 and then 5-3 at the half-way stage, but Whelan & Holland fought back and won all the remaining ends to take the title with an 8-5 victory.
